Green Jade is the name shared by two minerals - Nephrite, and Jadeite. The name Nephrite is derived from Greek (kidney stone) and the same meaning of Spanish piedra de ijada (the origin of "jade" and "jadeite"). Accordingly, nephrite and jade in ancient times were believed to be a cure for kidney stones. Though both rocks have different compositions, hardnesses, densities and crystal structures, both are exceptionally tough stones, similar in appearance, and equally valuable in metaphysical properties.
Jade is known by the mankind across the globe for nearly 6,000 years. The primitive peoples in the British Isles, indigenous tribes of Mexico, Central and South America, and New Zealand carved it into masks and ritual artifacts, even cast it into wells as an offering to the water spirits for fresh and plentiful water. An endless variety of gems, vessels, incense burners, beads, burial items and statues have been carved from Jade, as well as musical instruments and pendants inscribed with poetry.
Jade is most valued for its metaphysical properties. It is the ultimate "Dream Stone," revered in ancient cultures, as well as today, to access the spiritual world, gain insight into ritualistic knowledge, encourage creativity, and dreamsolve. It is cherished as a protective talisman, assuring long life and strong mind, and is considered a powerful stone, an amulet of good luck, love and friendship.
Jade has been the most highly esteemed stone in China throughout recorded history, and was valued for its beauty and protective powers. The stone is still believed to radiate positive energies, and generally to strengthen the body.
Jade is also thought to be cooling. This may be why jade pads are very popular in Asian countries. When such pad is used without electricity in the summertime, its coolness soothes and relaxes.
Together with the other elements such as Amethyst, Tourmaline, Germanium, or Ceramics Jade is the main component of MediCrystal® Mixed Gems Mats. The large and thick 1 to 2 inch natural stone disks are heated to naturally emit FIR (Far InfraRed) rays. Jade works as an efficient absorber of natural infraed heat and passes it along to the body gently and smoothly.
Heated jade also emits negative ions, which help to counteract the harmful positive ionization of the air caused by electronic devices such as computers, cell phones, and microwaves. Since negative ionization happens quickly with jade pads, twenty to thirty minutes may be enough to produce results.
Jade mats create comfortable warm setting helpful to relax muscles, relieve stress, mainatain normal joints flexibility. Because the stones provide a cozy, comfortable feeling, they are excellent for recuperation from chills.
Jade stones are cheaper then the Amethysts of the same size but are harder and show almost the same efficiency. But best of all the unique properties of Jade work in combination with the powers of Amethyst and Tourmaline crystals to achieve the synergic effects.
